The attacking midfielder has been one of the major new additions. His excellent start to the season with Espanyol, where he is tied with Anthony Gordon as La Liga's leading assist provider with four goal assists, has earned him a place in David Gordo's squad. This looks set to be the year when a player who showed clear signs in the Segunda Division that he had the quality to play in the top flight finally breaks through.

He was at S.D. Huesca two seasons ago, making 27 appearances and scoring one goal. Although his statistics did not stand out, he was clearly the team's most perceptive player in the final third, both in terms of vision and sheer quality.
Last season, he spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Mirandés. It was surprising that Huesca did not try to bring him back, given that they were in the same situation as the Jabatos, and he scored seven goals and provided three assists in 21 matches. That performance led Espanyol to put their faith in him, and at 22, he is enjoying the best form of his career.
SPAIN UNDER-21'S MATCHES
Spain, top of Group A after recording seven wins in as many matches, face three games during this long international camp: Finland (Tampere, September 25), San Marino (Serravalle, October 1) and Romania (Ibiza, October 6). It is the final push to seal their qualification and secure a place in the final tournament in Albania and Serbia.
Spain currently lead the group by five points over Finland. A win against the Finns would mathematically secure qualification. With a draw, they would qualify by beating San Marino. It is a privileged position thanks to how well things have gone, but it is by no means definitive.
