Only two players from the current roster of the red-and-black side are taking part in this World Cup: captain Mariona Ortiz with Spain and Veronika Vorackova with the Czech Republic. They are the representatives of Carlos Cantero's team at the continental tournament.
Most notably, as many as four players competing in Germany played at Príncipe Felipe this past season, highlighting the high level of the latest roster. Helena Pueyo is the most obvious member of this group, joined by Stephanie Mawuli (Japan) and Carla Leite and Aminata Gueye (France).

Leo Fiebich was one of, if not the first, great stars at Casademont Zaragoza and, unsurprisingly, she will represent hosts Germany in Berlin, serving as one of the German team's leaders in a group where they will face Spain.
Mali, in the same group as Spain and Germany, also features a familiar face in Aminata Sangaré. The African player barely had the chance to show her potential in the Aragonese capital, but she flourished at Innova-tsn Leganés, emerging as one of the revelations of last season in the Liga Femenina Endesa.
Belgium, one of the teams to watch in this tournament and led by Meesseman, also features two former red-and-black players: Julie Vanloo and Antonia Delaere. Both left a positive impression during the early days of a team whose representation at a World Cup demonstrates growth that appears to have no equal.
