National team coach Alejandro Valverde officially announced the squad this Monday, taking advantage of the rest day at La Vuelta. It consists of Enric Mas, Juan Ayuso, Markel Beloki, Carlos Verona, Iván Romeo, Raúl García Pierna, Marcel Camprubí and Igor Arrieta, as well as Castrillo. The championships are divided into a time trial and a 12-lap race in which the riders will cover 273.4 kilometers.
Castrillo will compete in the time trial, which takes place on September 20, alongside Iván Romeo. The Jaca native will have to complete a 39.2-kilometer course featuring 220 meters of elevation gain. The remaining cyclists will contest the 12-lap race on the 27th.
