The Barcelona-born referee has been present in every Primera RFEF season since the restructuring of the divisions in the 2021-2022 campaign. Across five seasons, he has officiated a total of 53 matches, making him the 24th referee with the most games overseen in the third tier of Spanish football. In addition, the official also refereed a Segunda promotion playoff match in the 2023-2024 campaign.
However, the statistic that stands out most about the Catalan referee concerns his disciplinary record. López Jiménez is the sixth referee with the most sendings-off in Primera RFEF, with a total of 22, and ranks 12th for red cards per game, averaging 0.42. These are high figures for an official who also averages 5.23 yellow cards per match.
DEPORTIVO ARAGÓN
López Jiménez will therefore referee Real Zaragoza for the first time after having officiated Deportivo Aragón in the 2017-2018 season, when the Blanquillo reserve side competed in the now-defunct Segunda División B. That season, the Catalan referee took charge of their defeats against Alcoyano at the Ciudad Deportiva and Atlético Baleares in Mallorca, as Deportivo Aragón eventually finished bottom and were relegated.
López Jiménez’s first Primera RFEF match of the year will be accompanied by Max Van Esso and Eric Martín as assistants, with Adrià Vicente serving as the fourth official. Real Zaragoza will be looking to secure their third consecutive victory and continue their good run of results.
