Aragon remains well below the flu epidemic threshold: just 0.4% of hospital emergency visits

Flu remains at low levels in Aragon and well below the epidemic threshold. Incidence is around 14 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, far below the 53.45 cases marking entry into the epidemic phase. The figures were presented on Tuesday by Health Minister Ángel Sanz as vaccination began at health centers for people over 60.

Pressure on healthcare services also remains low. Sanz explained that during the past week, just 0.4% of emergency visits treated at public hospitals in Aragon were related to flu. "For now, flu incidence in emergency departments is low," he said during a visit to the Delicias Sur health center in Zaragoza.

The minister also noted that Aragon is currently recording lower incidence than during the same week of last season. In his view, the possible impact of the Fiestas del Pilar has already passed without causing a significant rise. "I believe we have already moved beyond that phase," he said when asked about a possible increase in infections following the celebrations.

Sanz also linked the virus's low circulation to the moderate temperatures recorded in recent weeks. "The moderate weather has also contributed to keeping incidence low, and we are still not close to what would be the peak," he explained, as the Health Department continues urging people to get vaccinated before virus circulation increases.
