€550,000 in aid announced to compensate livestock farmers affected by summer wildfires

The Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) published Order AGA/1535/2026 today, announcing €550,000 in subsidies to compensate livestock holdings for losses caused by fires recorded in June, July and August 2026. The aid focuses on losses resulting from the inability to use grazing areas affected by the fires.

The subsidies are aimed at areas affected by fires declared severely affected by a civil protection emergency. In total, the territorial scope of the call covers affected areas in 38 Aragonese municipalities: 21 in the province of Huesca, 11 in Zaragoza and 6 in Teruel.

Holders of livestock holdings registered in the General Registry of Livestock Holdings (REGA) may apply for this aid if they meet the established requirements and have grazing areas affected within the perimeters of the fires covered by the call.

The aid is intended for sheep, goat, cattle and equine production and breeding holdings, under the conditions set out in the order. Intensive holdings, feedlots and self-consumption holdings are excluded.

The amount corresponding to each holding will be determined based on the number of livestock units (UGM), the proportion of grazing area affected by the fires and the compensation period established for each area. The calculation includes an amount of €3 per livestock unit per day, which serves as a reference for calculating the compensation but does not constitute a fixed payment of €3 per animal.

APPLICATION DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION

The deadline for submitting applications will be ten working days and will begin tomorrow, October 27, following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) today.
