Weather conditions will change this Wednesday with the arrival of a trough carrying cold air at altitude and a surface front. Temperatures will fall across the country, especially in the north, while storms are expected and could be strong in the mountains of the southeast, eastern Castilla-La Mancha, the Maestrazgo region and Mallorca. In the far northeast, they could bring heavy rainfall and significant accumulations. Cierzo winds will continue to blow with very strong gusts in the Ebro Valley.
TODAY: HEAT, CIERZO AND STABLE CONDITIONS
Stable conditions will prevail this Tuesday, except in northern Galicia and the Cantabrian region, where cloud cover will increase and light rain may be recorded. Low clouds, mist or coastal fog will also develop in western Galicia, while partly cloudy skies in the Strait of Gibraltar and Melilla will tend to clear.
Highs will fall in the Gulf of Cadiz, Galicia and the Cantabrian region, but will rise across much of the rest of the country. Temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in parts of the Canary Islands, the interior of the southern Atlantic slopes and the northeastern third of the country. Tropical nights will also occur in the southwest of mainland Spain, along the Mediterranean coast and in the archipelagos.
Cordoba and Seville will reach 39 degrees, Badajoz 38, and Zaragoza, Lleida, Granada, Caceres and Toledo 37. Teruel will reach 35 degrees and Huesca 34. Cierzo winds will blow moderately in the Ebro Valley, with very strong gusts.
TOMORROW: TEMPERATURES FALL AND STORMS ARRIVE
The trough and front will bring overcast skies and rainfall to the Cantabrian region on Wednesday, where conditions may be persistent. Convective clouds will also develop over the mountains of eastern mainland Spain and the Pyrenees, bringing showers and storms that could be strong, especially in the far northeast.
Temperatures will fall across the country, and the drop in maximum temperatures could be significant or even exceptionally sharp in places in the north. In Aragon, Zaragoza will drop from 37 to 27 degrees, Huesca from 34 to 28 and Teruel from 35 to 29. The decline will also be pronounced in other northern and inland areas, with highs of 21 degrees in Soria, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Lugo and Santander.
Heat will remain more intense in the south, with 37 degrees in Cordoba, 36 in Granada and 35 in Seville and Jaen. Northerly winds will become more prevalent across the northern half of mainland Spain, and cierzo winds may once again blow strongly in the Ebro Valley, with very strong gusts.
