A video recorded by the occupants of one of the vehicles caught in the traffic jam shows the moment a group of men intercepts a car and forcibly takes one of its occupants away. Before acting, the assailants had stopped traffic and blocked the road with two vehicles.
The incident occurred last Saturday, at around 7:30 p.m. The footage shows five people getting out of one of the vehicles and heading toward the car in which the victim is seated. Disguised as police officers, they have their heads covered and are carrying weapons.
Next, the group surrounds the vehicle and forces one of its occupants out before taking him away by force. The entire scene is recorded from another car that remains stopped a few meters away.
During the assault, the occupants of the vehicle from which the recording is made call 112 to report what has happened and explain what they are witnessing.
The Mossos d'Esquadra opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident and locate the man. Officers from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Catalan police later managed to find the victim safe and sound elsewhere in Catalonia, although the location has not been disclosed.
For now, the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and the reason why the group intercepted the victim in the middle of the highway are also not publicly known. The investigation remains open to determine what happened and identify those involved.
