VOX ACCUSES MOROCCO OF USING MIGRATION AS PRESSURE
The initiative, submitted for debate in the Foreign Affairs Committee, recalls that July 30 and 31 “marked a point of no return in the recent history of Spain’s national security,” referring to the arrival of nearly 80,000 people in Ceuta, which it describes as a “deliberate act of hybrid warfare orchestrated, instigated and directed by the Kingdom of Morocco.”
In this regard, the initiative stresses that “Morocco has repeatedly shown that it has never acted as a loyal partner, but rather as a hostile actor that uses migration blackmail to bend Spain’s will.”
THE PARTY DEMANDS A TOUGHER GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
It likewise blames Morocco for “the deterioration of living conditions in Ceuta, widespread insecurity, sexual assaults, the extremely high risks to the public health of Ceuta residents and any other consequences arising from last July’s invasion.”
For this reason, Vox maintains that “Spain cannot and must not allow” Moroccan nationals to enter, transit or remain in its territory, and warns that, in the face of “an aggression of this magnitude,” “lukewarm responses, empty statements of condemnation or diplomatic submission amount to a betrayal of the Spanish people.”
DENY VISAS UNTIL IT RECOGNIZES SPANISH SOVEREIGNTY
Accordingly, Vox is urging the government to “deny visas to foreign nationals of Moroccan nationality until Morocco recognizes, through a public, express and unequivocal declaration, respect for Spain’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and, specifically, with regard to Ceuta, Melilla, the Chafarinas Islands, the Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera, Perejil Island, the Alhucemas Islands and Peñón, and the Spanish places and territories of sovereignty in North Africa.”
