The operation began early in the morning, with several Civil Guard patrols deployed on Trampolín beach to gather the migrants and then escort them to the port. The situation became more complicated when they reached Benítez beach, where the people remaining at the second settlement joined the transfer.
The crowd quickly grew, and some of the group first began jogging and then running along the road toward the port area. The officers deployed were initially unable to contain the advance, making it necessary to mobilize reinforcements from the National Police.
The situation was brought under control at the end of Benítez beach closest to the industrial area leading to the port. There, security forces halted the crowd's advance to reorganize the transfer and try to ensure that access to the facilities took place in staggered and orderly fashion.
