The department headed by Grande-Marlaska confirmed this, detailing that he did so through a letter asking the head of the police to inform him “as soon as possible,” after several media outlets reported that the document sent to Judge María Tardón focuses on Morocco’s security forces for allegedly guiding the mass entry, even with plainclothes officers, and for a purpose other than migration, contrary to the government’s position, which rejects any involvement by Morocco in the episode.
MARLASKA DEMANDS TO KNOW WHEN THE POLICE RECEIVED THE REPORT
In the official letter addressed to Pardo, the minister asked to be informed “about the veracity” of those claims and, if applicable, to learn when the National Police first obtained the Cenif investigation, conducted by the intelligence unit of the Police’s General Commissariat for Immigration and Borders.
He considers this “essential for the government to adopt the appropriate decisions in relation to the migration crisis in Ceuta while exercising its constitutional powers to direct domestic and foreign policy and defend the state.”
Grande-Marlaska reminded the police director general that, once the situation had been declared one of interest to national security and regardless of the judicial proceedings that the National High Court may conduct, “information such as this should have been immediately made available” to the members of the National Security Council; to the single commander for this crisis, Minister for Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory Ángel Víctor Torres; and to the other bodies with powers in this area.
