The match, part of Group 17 of Tercera RFEF, was played on Saturday at Real Zaragoza's training ground. According to reports published by several Aragonese media outlets, the referee placed the incident after the final whistle and included it among incidents involving spectators. In his report, he explained that a group of fans threw a stone at him as he was heading toward the tunnel leading to the changing rooms and that the object struck him in the head.
Published reports point to the away section as the area from which the object was allegedly thrown. However, Almudévar denies that its supporters were involved in an incident after which the referee showed no apparent signs of injury or damage.
ALMUDÉVAR QUESTIONS THE REFEREE'S REPORT
The Huesca club responded in a statement shared on its social media accounts. In it, the club condemned any kind of attack at football grounds but expressed surprise at the contents of the report. Almudévar also maintains that the referee was accompanied by the team's delegate until he entered the changing room and that the delegate did not witness the alleged throw.
"Likewise, we wish to express our disbelief at the reading of the report from the Deportivo Aragón-A.D. Almudévar match, in which it states that the referee was assaulted by being struck in the head with a stone, apparently believing they were Almudévar supporters based on the nature of the protests, despite there being no injury of any kind and no need for medical assistance, when he was accompanied at all times by the Almudévar delegate until he entered his changing room and no such incident was witnessed," the statement said.
The club concluded by defending its reputation and rejecting any link to events it denies. "A.D. ALMUDEVAR cannot allow its image to be tarnished by a lack of truth," the statement concluded about a match whose result has been pushed into the background by an incident with two conflicting versions that remains to be clarified.
