What the Teatro Principal’s New LED Screen Will Look Like

The Teatro Principal will transform its facade with a new LED screen replacing the existing curved vinyl display at the corner of Coso and Eusebio Blanco streets. Zaragoza City Council is already advancing the renovation after the technical planning stage was completed.

The project will complete the modernization of the Teatro Principal’s exterior signage, which began with the installation of four digital screens on its main facade, operated through a control system inside the building. This improvement was carried out in 2024 to mark the theater’s 225th anniversary.

The project involves dismantling the existing curved display, cleaning and visually restoring the stone beneath it, and installing the new screen on the curved brick section above the first stone cornice. This new position will provide a larger-format display and improve its visibility compared with its current location.

A PROJECT ADAPTED TO THE THEATER

The work must respect the architectural and heritage features of the Teatro Principal. The building is listed as a protected asset of Aragon’s Cultural Heritage, and the project has already received authorization from the Zaragoza Provincial Cultural Heritage Commission.

The technical report must examine, among other aspects, the structure needed to support the new screen, its weight and resistance to wind, its integration with the facade, and the routing of the wiring to the control room inside the theater. It must also define the procedure for dismantling the existing display and cleaning the stone without carrying out work incompatible with the building’s protected status.

The technical assistance contract has a maximum budget of 18,148.79 euros, including VAT, and sets a period of 30 calendar days from its award for drawing up the costed technical report. The procedure to contract the supply and installation of the new LED screen will then be launched.
