When is the 2026 Constitution long weekend? December public holidays in Aragon and how to get 9 days off

As the year draws to a close, Aragon’s 2026 work calendar still includes one of the most eagerly awaited breaks: the Constitution long weekend. Following the autumn holidays, Constitution Day and Immaculate Conception Day in December offer the perfect opportunity to plan a getaway or enjoy a few days off. This year, the arrangement of December’s public holidays will allow people to enjoy a four-day long weekend without using vacation days.
When is the 2026 Constitution long weekend? December public holidays in Aragon and how to get 9 days off

Spain’s Constitution Day is celebrated every year on December 6, but in 2026 the date falls on a Sunday. For this reason, the Autonomous Community’s work calendar has moved the public holiday to Monday, December 7. As it falls directly before Tuesday, December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the break will run from Saturday, December 5, through Tuesday, December 8.

In addition, those with personal days or unused vacation time can take advantage of this long weekend to secure nine consecutive days off work—from Saturday, December 5, to Sunday, December 13—by requesting only three vacation days: Wednesday, December 9, Thursday, December 10, and Friday, December 11.

Beyond the time off work, the December long weekend traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas atmosphere in Aragon. During these days, the streets of the region’s main cities are already lit with festive decorations, the first Christmas markets open their doors, and many families take the opportunity to set up nativity scenes and Christmas trees at home or make their first trips to the snow.

WHICH PUBLIC HOLIDAYS REMAIN IN DECEMBER UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR IN ARAGON?

After the December long weekend, Aragon’s work calendar enters the final stretch of 2026. These are the public holidays still remaining in the last month of the year:

December 7 (Monday): day off due to the transfer of Spain’s Constitution Day, which falls on Sunday, December 6.

December 8 (Tuesday): Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

December 25 (Friday): Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day).
