The receipt of the document marks progress compared with the situation known last May, when the Directorate-General for the Regulation of Social Security (DGOSS) recognized Pymetrans as an interested party in the proceedings. That recognition has allowed the organization to join a case addressing one of the road transport sector’s main labor demands: the possibility of accessing early retirement through the application of reduction coefficients.
According to Pymetrans, the authorities have now forwarded the report to it in its capacity as an interested party. The federation said its services “are studying the document and, once the analysis is complete, will provide its members with an assessment of its scope and the possible implications for the sector.”
A PYMETRANS DEMAND SINCE ITS FOUNDING
Early retirement has been one of Pymetrans’ demands practically since the federation was founded in Burgos in 2023. The organization believes that the conditions under which transport professionals carry out their work, and their impact on health, must be taken into account when determining the retirement age.
The federation took another step in November 2025 by formally requesting that road freight transport be recognized as an activity eligible for reduction coefficients, including self-employed workers in its demand.
Months later, in May, Social Security recognized Pymetrans as an interested party in the proceedings. The decision allowed the organization to participate in the case and defend the interests of the professionals it represents.
AWAITING THE CONCLUSIONS
Pymetrans has not yet disclosed its assessment of the Morbidity and Mortality Report. The federation wants to complete its technical analysis before commenting on its conclusions and the consequences it could have for transport professionals.
The organization says it will continue exercising its institutional representation before the authorities and will take whatever steps it considers necessary to defend its members’ rights.
The analysis of the report will therefore be Pymetrans’ next move in a procedure the federation considers strategic for the future of road transport professionals.
