Throughout the year, the mutual insurer processed 1,693 grants, benefiting 198 workers. These benefits address needs that go beyond standard coverage, offering solutions tailored to each person’s circumstances to promote their independence, facilitate the adaptation of their surroundings and contribute to their functional recovery.
“Behind each of these grants is a person who needs to regain their independence and rebuild their daily life after a workplace accident. Additional benefits allow us to address highly specific needs that have a direct impact on their quality of life and that of their families,” MAZ Mutual said.
These benefits address needs that go beyond standard coverage
Among the measures receiving the largest amounts of funding are prostheses and non-regulated technical aids, with €236,882.34 allocated across 44 grants. These benefits provide access to technical solutions that can be decisive in helping people regain their independence and function more autonomously in everyday life.
Assistance covering travel, accommodation and meal expenses for workers and their companions during treatment at hospital or social healthcare centres also accounted for a significant share. During 2025, MAZ processed 1,454 grants worth a total of €80,574.92 to meet these needs.
AID TAILORED TO EACH WORKER’S NEEDS
MAZ’s additional benefits also cover areas directly related to adapting to a new personal and family situation after a workplace accident. These include the removal of architectural barriers in homes, for which €54,427.04 was allocated through 11 grants.
In addition, the mutual insurer allocated €68,424.48 to 37 grants for long-term stays in social healthcare centres, while a further 59 grants, worth €45,223.85, provided home support for basic activities of daily living.
“The more than €610,000 allocated in 2025 reflects the importance of these benefits in responding to situations that can affect a worker’s life after a workplace accident,” the mutual insurer stressed.
These measures are complemented by assistance for adapting or purchasing adapted vehicles, amounting to €38,161.69, and grants providing a one-off payment for rent or mortgage costs, which reached €25,391.98.
Every accident and recovery process is different. That is why it is essential to analyse each worker’s circumstances and offer tailored responses, from a prosthesis or home adaptation to home support or the travel required to receive care,” they explained.
MAZ has also used these benefits to address other specific situations, such as medical treatments or non-regulated therapies and additional assistance alongside death benefits, among other needs arising from workplace accidents.

Through this additional benefits programme, MAZ reinforces its commitment to comprehensive worker protection, supporting them not only with healthcare and recovery, but also in dealing with the personal, family and social consequences that a serious workplace accident can cause.
The aim is to provide individualised responses that help those affected regain their independence, adapt their surroundings and improve their well-being and quality of life during a process that often continues long after the initial phase of care has ended.
