August figures therefore show an uneven trend between the city and the province. Zaragoza city maintained positive performance and improved on last year's figures, while the province recorded a significant decline compared with the exceptional result of August 2025. In both areas, the summer was also marked by particularly high temperatures, a relevant factor for tourist mobility and urban activity.

The average stay in Zaragoza city during August was two days, exactly the same figure recorded in 2025 and above the 1.69 days estimated at the beginning of the summer. In Zaragoza province, however, the average stay was 1.50 days, below the 2.25 days recorded in August 2025.

The visitor profile in August continued to be predominantly domestic. In Zaragoza city, 73.75% of travelers came from Spain, compared with 26.25% of international visitors. Madrid, Catalonia and the Valencian Community were the main domestic markets, while France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, the United Kingdom and Mexico led the international markets.

In Zaragoza province, the share of domestic visitors was slightly higher still, at 76%, compared with 24% of international visitors. Madrid, Catalonia, Aragon, the Valencian Community and Andalusia were among the main Spanish sources of visitors, while France, Portugal, Slovakia and Poland stood out among foreign travelers.

93% OCCUPANCY DURING THE ECLIPSE

The total solar eclipse on August 12 drove average occupancy to 93% from August 10 through the day of the eclipse. The event placed Zaragoza at the center of international tourist and scientific attention and brought hotel occupancy close to full capacity on August 12 itself. In fact, 2% of the hotel occupancy recorded in August was attributed to foreign visitors who came to experience the phenomenon.

Unlike the usual profile for the month, most visitors linked to the event were from abroad. Some 57% came from other countries, mainly the United States, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

The eclipse also helped extend some stays, as many visitors began arriving in the city on August 10 and many of them stayed for three nights, strengthening the economic impact of an event that extended beyond August 12 itself.
