These subsidies are deducted directly when the policy is taken out, so farmers know from the outset how much they have to pay and do not need to advance the subsidized amount. Simón explained that this is the Department's largest allocation financed with its own funds without co-financing and accounts for approximately 70% of the resources managed by the Directorate-General for Rural Development.
NEARLY 80% INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CEREALS AND VINEYARDS
The event brought together around 60 professionals from insurance companies, their sales networks and representatives of the agricultural sector to discuss the latest developments in insurance for extensive crops, wine grapes, olive groves and nuts. According to Agroseguro, the insured capital in Aragon reached €1.745 billion in 2025, with coverage close to 80% for crops such as cereals and vineyards.
The minister also noted that the uptake of livestock insurance varies across the different lines available. To improve awareness, the Department plans to work with Agroseguro and strengthen the information provided to farmers and livestock breeders in Aragon about the options available to protect their operations.
AID FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY WILDFIRES
Simón also highlighted cooperation with Agroseguro to facilitate compensation payments to farmers affected by this summer's wildfires. In addition, a €550,000 call for applications has been launched to compensate livestock farms for pasture losses. It was published Monday in the Official Gazette of Aragon, and the application period opens Tuesday, October 27. The Department is also preparing another call for applications to address damage to agricultural infrastructure and losses suffered by affected beekeepers.
