With a live broadcast reaching audiences worldwide and a social media impact expected to exceed 1.5 million interactions, the area around the Basilica of El Pilar will change its urban landscape to become an adrenaline-fueled go-kart circuit. Mayor Natalia Chueca and journalist Antonio Lobato presented the event on Thursday.
"I want to thank the organizers for choosing Zaragoza to host the second edition of Kart Royale. Turning the city into the setting for a "video game" where content creators race instead of Mario Bros is another way to showcase Zaragoza to the world," Chueca said at the presentation ceremony.
Antonio Lobato, the voice of Formula 1 in Spain for more than two decades, will provide the commentary for the race. "Having the second edition of Kart Royale in Zaragoza is a dream. I have driven around what will be the course, and the visual impact of the Basilica of El Pilar will surpass that of the first event," Lobato said.
MUCH MORE THAN A RACE
Kart Royale's arrival will allow Zaragoza to add an event aimed particularly at younger audiences, with a significant digital dimension, to its calendar. The competition will be the centerpiece of a day combining on-track action with experiences for the public and a broadcast allowing audiences to follow the event from different locations. In addition, the teams, their members, training sessions, challenges and rivalries will generate content in the months leading up to the event.
The first edition of Kart Royale was held in Granada in 2025 and brought more than 25,000 people to the circuit. This second event in Zaragoza will feature eight teams and 24 Spanish content creators who have amassed tens of millions of followers on social media. The participants in this major event will be announced over the coming months.
