What to Eat at Voltereta? Inside the Menu of Zaragoza’s Restaurant with a Waterfall and Lake

More than two years after opening in Zaragoza, Voltereta has become one of the city’s most sought-after restaurants thanks to its immersive experience. Its waterfall, lake and carefully designed setting inspired by a magical elven village create a fantasy world without leaving the Aragonese capital.

Located at 4 La Salle Street, near Plaza de San Francisco, the restaurant has made its decor and immersive experience two of its main hallmarks. Voltereta is already preparing to expand in Zaragoza with the opening of a second restaurant, which will be located in the city center. However, beyond its spectacular appearance, what truly matters in a restaurant is still what reaches the table. And Voltereta offers an extensive and distinctive menu that blends flavors and recipes from different parts of the world.

Croquettes, baos, Asian-inspired dishes, pasta, meat, fish and vegetarian options feature on a menu with prices ranging from 2.50 euros to 19.50 euros. It also offers a 16.90-euro lunch menu, available Monday to Friday except public holidays.

VOLTERETA ZARAGOZA MENU

The dining experience begins with "Welcome to the Forest," a selection of small bites including oxtail, puchero and teriyaki duck croquettes, all priced at 4.50 euros for two pieces. For the same price, diners can try the Okinawa taco with tempura shrimp, rice and nori seaweed topped with teriyaki and sweet chili mayonnaise, or the small brioche katsu filled with crispy chicken. Among the standout bites is the Iberian-Cantonese bao (4.90 euros), with Iberian pork shoulder, hoisin mayonnaise and Japanese spring onion, described by the restaurant itself as its "2025 signature dish." The low-temperature beef skirt bao is also priced at 4.90 euros, while the oxtail gyozas cost 8.90 euros, the Montecristo—crispy cigar-shaped rolls filled with Iberian rib meat—costs 6.90 euros, and the Mexico-Korean crispy red tuna, with avocado and kimchi mayonnaise, costs 4.50 euros.

The menu continues with "The Lakeside," where some of its most casual offerings and dishes to share are grouped. These include the Smokehouse pulled pork brioche (7.90 euros), with vegetables, sun-dried tomato, Parmesan and sriracha mayonnaise, and New Zealand-style fried chicken (7.90 euros), glazed with sweet and hot chili sauce. One of the freshest options is the creamy burrata salad with tomatoes from Almeria (12.50 euros), combining Puglian burrata, pink tomato, sun-dried tomato jam and pesto. Other classics include the cheese casserole (8.90 euros), Japanese vegetable tempura (7.90 euros), which Voltereta identifies as its most popular dish to share, and the Voltereta Tortilla (9.50 euros), lightly cooked and served with caramelized onion, ranking among the restaurant’s three best-selling dishes in 2025. This section is completed by the Smoked Pastrami Sandwich (8.90 euros), a flaky brioche with smoked pastrami, truffle mayonnaise, caramelized onion, Brie, sun-dried tomato and arugula.

The main courses, grouped under the name "Beneath the Waterfall," once again combine influences from different cuisines. The Butter Chicken (12.90 euros) puts an Indian chicken recipe with mildly spicy curry, cashews and basmati rice at the center, while the Maori-style tempura cod (19.50 euros), one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, is served with tartar sauce, white miso and baby potatoes. Pasta options include sweet pear and Gorgonzola parcels (12.90 euros) and truffle ravioli with walnuts (12.50 euros), as well as mushroom risotto with truffle (14.50 euros). The fish selection also features teriyaki salmon (17.90 euros), served with sesame mayonnaise and salad, while meat lovers can choose the Secreto por las nubes (14.90 euros), served over truffled purée, or the Porto-style beef cheek (14.90 euros), with a Port reduction and creamy Robuchon parmentier.

The dessert section, called "Sweet New Zealand," maintains the eye-catching character of the rest of the menu. Options include the Chocolate Cake (5.50 euros), a creamy chocolate and hazelnut praline cake with a biscuit base, chocolate syrup and popping candy. For 5.90 euros, diners can choose the white chocolate and Filipinos cake or the Lotus Cake, made with Biscoff syrup and a butter biscuit base. Those looking for a lighter finish can opt for Coco del Pacifico (3.90 euros), a coconut panna cotta with caramelized pineapple; Belgian chocolate ice cream (3.90 euros); Greek yogurt with blueberry jam and almonds (2.90 euros); or seasonal fruit (2.50 euros).

The menu thus offers a journey through Asian, Mediterranean and other international flavors without leaving Voltereta’s distinctive magical village.
