What the Pilar Festival sounded like 15 years ago: from Melendi and Dani Martín to Love of Lesbian and Malú

One of the biggest unknowns surrounding Zaragoza’s Pilar Festival each year is which artists will provide the soundtrack to its main celebrations. In 2026, that question has already been answered, with an extensive concert program set to fill various parts of the city with music once again. But who took to Zaragoza’s stages exactly 15 years ago? The 2011 Pilar Festival brought together some of the most popular artists of the time, many of whom still perform to packed venues and headline festivals across Spain today.

In 2026, Antonio Orozco, Malú and Dani Fernández will be among the names performing at the Ambar stage in Plaza del Pilar, while Myke Towers, Viva Suecia, Ana Mena and Love of Lesbian are part of the Espacio Zity lineup. The Príncipe Felipe Pavilion will also welcome back some familiar faces from the festival, with La Oreja de Van Gogh, Sergio Dalma and Camela among its featured acts. For some of them, this will be far from their first time performing in Zaragoza during the city’s main celebrations.

In fact, looking back 15 years reveals several overlaps between the two lineups. Malú, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Love of Lesbian and Sergio Dalma all performed during the 2011 Pilar Festival and will return in 2026. Malú performed at Valdespartera, La Oreja de Van Gogh took the stage at Interpeñas, Love of Lesbian shared that venue with Sidonie, and Sergio Dalma also performed at Interpeñas. But that year’s festival featured many more familiar names, including Melendi and Dani Martín, as well as one act with a very special connection to Zaragoza: Amaral played five consecutive concerts, from October 6 to 10, at the Congress Palace, all of them sold out.
