What the New Accessible Calisthenics Park by Vadorrey Pier Will Be Like

Zaragoza is planning a new outdoor exercise space in Vadorrey. The City Council has put out to tender the construction of an accessible calisthenics park on the Mario Gaviria pedestrian walkway, next to the pier, with a planned investment of 77,676.77 euros. The facility will cover around 180 square metres and feature 14 elements for practising the sport, divided into two areas.

The main new feature will be that one of the areas will be adapted for people with reduced mobility and will include three inclusive elements. The project also involves replacing the deteriorated rubber flooring with new surfacing and installing an information panel with a QR code providing access to training routines and usage recommendations. The planned completion period is ten weeks from the start of the works.

The project in Vadorrey is part of a package of municipal sports improvements worth more than 336,000 euros. As part of this plan, Zaragoza Deporte has also put out to tender the complete renovation of the three clay tennis courts at the Gran Vía Municipal Sports Centre, with a budget of 250,204.41 euros. The works will include improving drainage and sanitation to prevent the waterlogging that makes the courts difficult to use after rainfall, as well as renewing the surfacing and fencing.

The third project will be carried out in Félix de Azara Park, in Montecanal, where improvement works on the football and basketball courts have already been awarded for 8,784.55 euros. The project includes replacing the goals and deteriorated fencing components, installing vandal-resistant goals and repairing the protective structures behind the basketball hoops. Taken together, the three projects aim to renovate sports facilities in different areas of Zaragoza and improve their conditions for use.
