Tarazona Soapbox Derby Suspended and Postponed Due to Lack of Teams, Scheduled for October 4

Tarazona’s III Soapbox Derby, scheduled for October 4, will have to wait. The Tarazona City Council announced Tuesday that the event has been "suspended and postponed until a new date" because the minimum number of teams established in the rules had not been reached.

The decision comes before the registration deadline, which was initially open until September 29. The City Council explained that it had chosen to bring forward the suspension "due to the organizational, preparation and coordination work required to hold the event."

A new date has not yet been set and, according to the City Council in a statement posted on its social media, it will be announced shortly.

THE RULES REQUIRED A MINIMUM OF TEN TEAMS

The rules for this third edition established that the race could only go ahead if a minimum of ten teams registered. In fact, they expressly provided for the event to be suspended if that figure was not reached.

To participate, each team had to consist of at least six people, with a minimum age of 14. Participants under 18 needed authorization from their parents or legal representatives.

The race was scheduled to take place as part of the San Atilano Festival.
