Stone Bridge to remain open to traffic as drone flights are postponed this Wednesday

The Stone Bridge will not need to close this Wednesday, September 30. Zaragoza City Council said the drone flights planned to assess the bridge structure have been postponed to a new date yet to be determined due to operational issues beyond the council’s control.

As a result, the bridge will remain fully operational throughout the day, and traffic around it will follow its usual pattern, without the restrictions initially announced between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. It will also not be necessary to establish the planned safety perimeter around the infrastructure or divert the urban bus routes that were due to be affected by the work.

DRONE ANALYSIS WILL TAKE PLACE ON ANOTHER DATE

The drone flight is part of the structural and topographical analysis included in Zaragoza’s Bridge Plan, which will serve as the basis for drafting the preliminary project for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Stone Bridge. The work, awarded to Bigantec Consultoría for €40,197.41, including VAT, requires flights using LiDAR technology to obtain precise data on the condition of the infrastructure.

Zaragoza City Council will announce the new date once the operation has been rescheduled and the necessary flight permits have been arranged. Until then, users of the Stone Bridge will be able to travel normally, and bus routes 28, 32, 35, 36 and 39 will maintain their usual routes this Wednesday.
