Among the association’s main demands are the construction of a new health center and opposition to the diversion of public resources toward private healthcare. The event will also denounce cuts to public education and call for more resources to be allocated to public services, amid what organizers consider a loss of resources in favor of private education.
IT WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25
Urban planning in this Zaragoza neighborhood will be another central focus of the protest. Organizers want to draw attention to projects they consider speculative on public land, including developments planned for vacant lots in the neighborhood. These demands are accompanied by a call for greater investment in public spaces, as well as better maintenance of communal areas and services used by San José residents.
The event will also have a festive, community-oriented element. Organizers plan to end the route with a musical performance and a vermouth gathering. Under the slogan of taking to the streets to defend the neighborhood, the association is encouraging people to take part in a mobilization aimed at putting San José’s needs on the table.
