Participants of different ages toured Parque Grande and its surroundings during a morning offering several ways to join the initiative. The program included 25- and 50-kilometer mountain bike events, a 5-kilometer race and a 5-kilometer walk.

The event began at 9:00 a.m. with the start of the cycling events. Ten minutes later, those registered for the race and walk set off, turning the area around Parque Grande into a meeting point centered on sport, solidarity and care.

This initiative works to promote comprehensive care, training, research and support for people with advanced illnesses and their families.

A DAY IN SUPPORT OF PALLIATIVE CARE

All proceeds from registration fees will go to the San Juan de Dios Institute for Palliative Care and Support in Aragón, ICAS Aragón.

This initiative works to promote comprehensive care, training, research and support for people with advanced illnesses and their families. Pasos y Pedales aims to raise awareness of this work and enable citizens to contribute through an open, participatory and family-friendly activity.

The managing director of Hospital San Juan de Dios Zaragoza, Berta Sáez, said that "Pasos y Pedales was created to promote ICAS Aragón, an institute based on comprehensive care, training, research and support for patients, families and professionals during the end of life." Sáez said this stage "has required the same attention and the same desire to care as any other moment in life" and recalled that palliative care has always been part of San Juan de Dios’ DNA. She also expressed her satisfaction with the 400 registered participants, joined by contributions made through the non-participant donation option, and thanked citizens for their response and companies for their support.

For his part, Zaragoza City Council’s Sports Councillor, Félix Brocate, stressed that the event pursued "a fundamental objective" and praised the fact that it brought together people cycling, walking and running around a common cause, while reiterating the city’s support for the initiative.
