New Swings and Playgrounds in Zaragoza: Seven Spaces Set for a Makeover

Zaragoza City Council has put out to tender a €500,000 comprehensive renovation of seven children's play areas across different neighborhoods. The contract includes installing new, accessible playground equipment and carrying out the work needed to upgrade the spaces. Interested companies can submit bids until November 3.

The work will take place on Avenida de la Ilustración, in the South District; Antonio Royo Street, in El Rabal; San Pablo Park, in the Historic District; Pilar Miró Square, in Oliver-Valdefierro; the Memory Garden, in San José; Delicias 2 Park; and Students Avenue, in Santa Isabel. The budget is divided into seven lots, one for each area, with amounts ranging from €58,702.94 for Pilar Miró Square to €87,346.80 for San Pablo Park.

THE MAXIMUM DEADLINE IS 16 WEEKS PER LOT

The selection of these areas takes into account the age and condition of the playground equipment, technical inspections, maintenance needs and requests from local residents. In addition to installing the new equipment, the successful bidders will have to carry out the work required to put it into service. The maximum deadline is set at 16 weeks per lot, excluding August and December, which are considered non-working months in the sector.

The new tender adds to the 47 projects carried out since 2019 to improve Zaragoza's children's play areas, 41 of which involved comprehensive renovations. The project coincides with the recent award of the Zaragoza Verde 360 contract, worth almost €8.5 million, to improve green infrastructure and its facilities. One of its lots, allocated more than €2.57 million over four years, is intended to maintain the city's more than 400 children's play areas, as well as areas for older people and sports circuits.
