Nearly 700 job opportunities in one place: Zaragoza’s Employment Fair returns

Finding a job, changing careers or seeking a first opportunity. Zaragoza’s 6th Employment Fair opened the doors of the Auditorium’s Multi-Purpose Hall this Wednesday, October 7, with nearly 700 job openings and 80 companies, institutions and organizations from numerous sectors. From early morning, dozens of people queued with their resumes to attend an event that once again directly connects candidates and employers.

The fair is being held for the second time this year, something unprecedented so far in Zaragoza. The first edition took place in March and attracted nearly 4,000 visitors in just five hours. “In March, the companies were left wanting more,” Economy Councillor Carlos Gimeno explained about the origins of this new event.

The City Council decided to repeat the experience after several sectors reported their need to hire workers. “Some sectors told us that demand was significant and that they had not been able to organize themselves to attend,” Gimeno said. The response was swift, and all 80 spaces available for companies were reserved.

NEARLY 700 JOB OPENINGS IN ZARAGOZA

Companies taking part in the Employment Fair must attend with specific job openings. “The important thing about coming here as a company and reserving a stand is that you have to come with specific job offers,” Gimeno said. This edition features nearly 700 vacancies, covering numerous professional profiles and levels of experience.

Data from previous events also show a high level of subsequent hiring. According to Gimeno, “around 60% of the positions offered are filled in the following days or weeks.” The councillor highlighted the very high employability rate and said he hopes to match the attendance recorded in March.

Of the 80 organizations present, 49 are returning and 31 are taking part for the first time. Industry, construction, energy, retail, hospitality, logistics, healthcare, education, finance and technology are among the sectors represented. Organizations such as the Ministry of Defense, the Navy and the National Police are also participating.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR VERY DIFFERENT PROFESSIONAL PROFILES

The fair is aimed both at young people seeking their first opportunity and at experienced professionals who want to change sectors or companies. “There are very young people today dreaming that this could be their first job opportunity,” Gimeno said, also highlighting the options available to workers with longer careers.

The fair also aims to facilitate access to employment for groups facing greater difficulties entering the workforce. Gimeno expressed his hope that “those groups more vulnerable in terms of employability, who find it harder to integrate into the labor market, can have that opportunity today.” Sheltered employment centers and social organizations are also taking part in the event.

Construction will be one of the sectors with the greatest future needs. Gimeno warned that, with the new residential and industrial developments planned in Zaragoza, “demand will double, and that demand will be solely in construction.” The City Council is committed to maintaining these fairs and considers that the event “is well established and must be strengthened.”
