The long-awaited café in central Zaragoza finally sets its opening date: “There will be surprises and more than just coffee”

They say good things come to those who wait, and after more than a year of anticipation, Devil Coffee has finally announced its opening date. The new specialty coffee shop, located where Plaza Sas meets Calle Alfonso I, will open on October 8 in the heart of Zaragoza.

It will also occupy a venue steeped in history. Devil Coffee will take over the former Joyería Martín Blasco premises, which finally closed its doors in 2021 after decades in business. Now, the establishment is set to come back to life with a completely different concept, replacing jewelry with specialty coffee.

A SECOND LIFE FOR A VENUE WITH 125 YEARS OF HISTORY

Behind this new project is El Tostadero, a Zaragoza-based brand specializing in coffee, which is launching Devil Coffee Café as a new concept focused on specialty coffee.

The former Martín Blasco jewelry shop was one of Zaragoza’s landmark businesses for more than a century. Generations of Zaragoza residents passed through its doors in search of jewelry and watches that still hold significant sentimental value for many families today. After several years behind closed shutters, that image is about to become a thing of the past.

OPENING TIME AND SURPRISES

They announced the opening date and time themselves in a video posted on their social media: on October 8 at 9:30 a.m., Devil Coffee will open its doors for the first time, adding: “Stay tuned, because there will be surprises... And more than just coffee.”

It will also open at a strategic moment, just two days before the start of the Fiestas del Pilar, when the streets of central Zaragoza fill with locals and visitors. It is a particularly significant date for launching this new project in one of the city’s busiest areas.

From October 8, the historic premises will once again open to the city, beginning a second life very different from the first: where jewelry and watches were sold for decades, coffee will now be served.
