La Seo to Offer Free Admission on These October Dates: One Falls During Fiestas del Pilar

October is one of the most special months on Zaragoza’s calendar. The city is preparing for its biggest celebrations, the Fiestas del Pilar, but alongside concerts, traditional events and activities for all audiences, there will also be opportunities to explore the heritage of the capital of Aragon. One of them will be the chance to visit La Seo in Zaragoza free of charge, an opportunity available to residents of Aragon on four days this month.

The Cathedral of the Savior is one of Zaragoza’s most important monuments and a privileged place to journey through centuries of history without leaving the same building. Built on the site previously occupied by the Roman forum of Caesaraugusta, a Visigothic church and the Main Mosque of Saraqusta, the current temple brings together elements from different periods and styles, from Romanesque to Neoclassical.

Its Mudéjar heritage is particularly prominent. The apse, the Parroquieta chapel and the dome of La Seo are among the monuments included in the Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Although visiting the monument normally requires purchasing a ticket, residents of Aragon have several free-admission days throughout the year. To benefit from this free admission, visitors must present documentation proving their residence in the Autonomous Community of Aragon.

WHEN IS LA SEO FREE IN OCTOBER 2026?

During October 2026, La Seo can be visited free of charge on October 6, 12, 23 and 27 by residents of Aragon. This month also has a particular feature: one of the free-admission days coincides with the Day of the Pilar, on October 12. This means that those in Zaragoza during its biggest celebrations will also have the opportunity to include a visit to the temple among their plans for those days.

Those wishing to take advantage of any of these days must prove their residence in Aragon. It is an opportunity to discover or revisit one of Zaragoza’s great heritage treasures and a building where centuries of history coexist, from its Romanesque remains and Gothic elements to some of the most notable examples of Aragonese Mudéjar art, as well as Renaissance, Baroque and Classicist additions.
