This venue, located in the Delicias neighborhood, has become a true classic for several generations of Zaragoza residents. Since the summer, however, it has faced uncertainty after Mercadona, the owner of the property, decided not to renew the lease, which expires on January 1, 2027.

30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION IN STYLE

Now, despite the adversity, the venue wants to celebrate its 30 years of history in style, having shared countless moments with several generations of Zaragoza residents. To announce the event, its owners have put up a large sign on the venue’s façade that reads: “October 17, 11.00 a.m., 30th anniversary.”

“We are celebrating our anniversary and want to celebrate it with everyone who has ever visited or knows Río de la Plata,” they announced on social media, inviting neighbors, regular customers and former visitors to join them on this special date.

The celebration’s proposal is simple but promises to bring together numerous Zaragoza residents: “Free beer, music and a great atmosphere.” Three ingredients with which Río de la Plata wants to celebrate its three decades of history alongside those who have been part of it.

PEACEFUL PROTEST AFTER THE ANNIVERSARY

Meanwhile, David Salvador continues to fight to keep Río de la Plata in the place it has occupied for the past three decades. “It made us feel very insecure to get into a business with an annually renewable contract. Mercadona verbally assured us that we could continue as long as the business kept operating as it had until then,” the owner told ARAGÓN DIGITAL this summer.

For this reason, October 17 will not be solely a celebration. At 12.00 p.m., the venue has also called a peaceful demonstration to demand that it remain in Plaza Roma. Through this event, David Salvador hopes to rally the support of neighbors and customers so that Río de la Plata can continue writing its story in the same place where it began 30 years ago.
