Five years ago, Aragón Digital was already reporting the stories shaping current affairs in Aragon. Mur had been president of CEOE Aragón since 2019 and CEOE Zaragoza since 2014, as well as chair of the Aragon Business Council. Born in Zaragoza in 1973 and a law graduate, he had also served on the city's council as a councillor and deputy mayor for Finance and the Economy.

The list of honors included other prominent names. Those proposed to be named Favorite Sons included writer and philologist Irene Vallejo; Special Education teacher Beatriz Gómez Gil; José Luis Jiménez, a professor of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado; and photojournalist Dune Solanot.

There were also plans to honor posthumously Martín Bernal, Antonio Navarro and José Borrás, the three Zaragoza natives who were members of 'La Nueve', the company made up mostly of Spanish Republicans that entered Paris as the advance guard of the Allied troops on August 24, 1944. The Los Sitios de Zaragoza Cultural Association completed the list of proposals to receive the title of Favorite Son.

The ceremony to present the Gold Medal and honorary titles was scheduled for October 9, 2021, after receiving approval from the Health Department of the Government of Aragon. Ricardo Mur thus topped a wide-ranging list of names connected to business, culture, education, science and the history of Zaragoza. This is how Aragón Digital reported it five years ago, in the original story about the proposals for the city's distinctions.
