Zaragoza reaches this event after making the final of this European award for the first time in its history. The city is competing for the title against Aalborg (Denmark), Bielsko-Biala (Poland), Košice (Slovakia) and Oporto (Portugal), after presenting its project and the environmental transformation it has undergone in recent years to the international jury on Wednesday. Zaragoza's bid also has the support of more than 150 organizations.
THE GALA WILL ALSO BE FOLLOWED IN ZARAGOZA
While the delegation remains in Portugal awaiting the decision, the gala will also be followed from Zaragoza. Representatives of the city government, together with companies and institutions that have supported the bid, will watch the ceremony from the City Hall's Reception Hall. Zaragoza's proposal is based on aspects such as air quality, water consumption, nature and biodiversity, waste, noise, and policies to combat and adapt to climate change, as well as projects such as the Bosque de los Zaragozanos.
The city has also presented a roadmap with 150 actions for the hypothetical green year of 2028, including the Vive Latino festival, which would plant one tree for every ticket sold, and Ebro Vivo, through which Zaragoza wants to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Expo 2008. Everything now lies in the hands of the jury. The answer will come tonight from Guimarães, in a ceremony that Aragón Digital will follow from Portugal to report on the outcome of a bid that could provide an important international platform for Zaragoza and Aragón.
