Provincial lawmaker Cristina Palacín will open the event, which will also feature remarks by CAMEUR President María Antonio Avilés. The program will be divided into two parts to bring the main European debates and their impact on the region closer to the public.

EUROPEAN CHALLENGES AND THEIR IMPACT ON ARAGON

The first part will address the European Union's current challenges with Juan Fernando López Aguilar, an MEP since 2009, former justice minister and professor of constitutional law. The discussion will be moderated by Natividad Fernández Sola, professor of international law and international relations at the University of Zaragoza.

The second part will focus on how European decisions affect Aragon. Aragonese MEPs Borja Jiménez Larraz and Rosa María Serrano Sierra will take part in a session moderated by Eva Pérez Sorribes, which will help explain the relationship between the issues debated in EU institutions and the daily lives of people in Aragon.

THE EU IN THIRD-YEAR ESO CLASSROOMS

The agreement between the DPZ and CAMEUR also includes an educational program that has spent ten academic years explaining the European Union to students from the third year of ESO through the second year of Bachillerato. During this time, it has reached 468 schools in Aragon, with 936 talks and 32,568 participating students. The sessions last approximately one hour and explain how the EU was created, how its institutions work and what belonging to it entails.

In Zaragoza province, the program has visited 109 schools, where 214 talks have been given to 7,126 students. Alagón, Calatayud, Daroca, Ejea de los Caballeros, Tarazona and Zuera are among the towns taking part in this initiative, which aims to help young people understand how European decisions affect their present and future.
