The Ebro riverside amphitheater getting a new lease on life: what will be built in Vadorrey

Zaragoza City Council will transform the small amphitheater next to the Vadorrey landing stage into a new outdoor sports area. The project includes a 408.73-square-meter calisthenics circuit, with a section specifically adapted for people with reduced mobility, in the space between Marqués de la Cadena Street bridge and the Ebro weir.

The work will be carried out next to CDE Monkayak and the Vadorrey landing stage, around 28 meters from the latter. The space currently has deteriorated rubber flooring and concrete stands that follow the slope of the riverbank. The project will give it a new sporting use and refurbish an area integrated into the Ebro riverside.

The future circuit will be divided into two separate areas. The main one will be intended for calisthenics exercises and will feature various elements for practicing the discipline, while another area will allow people with reduced mobility to perform adapted exercises.

ELEVEN CALISTHENICS ELEMENTS AND AN ADAPTED AREA

To carry out the work, the existing rubber flooring will be removed and the concrete in the area intended for the new sand surface will be demolished. The sports area will have 11 calisthenics elements offering different exercise options, as well as an information sign. The surface will consist of non-compacting silica sand, with particles measuring between 0.4 and 0.9 millimeters. A sample must be approved in advance by the project management team.

In the accessible area, the concrete slab beneath the existing rubber flooring will be preserved, leveled and prepared for the installation of three calisthenics elements adapted for people with reduced mobility. In this way, the project sets aside a specific part of the new equipment to facilitate sports activities for users with different abilities.

The project also includes improvements to the conditions for staying in and using the space through the addition of new trees to provide shade, although this planting is not included in the project's financial assessment. Both the surrounding green area and the existing trees will be preserved so that the new sports equipment is integrated into this section of the Ebro riverside.
