Cuarte de Huerva gets taxis back after eight years: ranks and phone number

Residents of Cuarte de Huerva once again have taxis after almost eight years without the service. They can now request a vehicle without relying on drivers traveling from Zaragoza, as had been the case until now. The town council presented the launch of the first of the two awarded licenses this Friday. The municipality will also have four taxi ranks in different areas of the town.

Since the previous taxi drivers retired, residents had depended on professionals traveling from Zaragoza, which increased waiting times and made some journeys more difficult. Mayor Elena Lacalle welcomed the return of the service. "We had been without a taxi for almost eight years and, with Cuarte having grown so much, it was a need we had to address," she said.

FOUR NEW TAXI RANKS IN CUARTE DE HUERVA

The town council will provide four taxi ranks at different points across the municipality to make the service easier to access. They will be located on the Bulevar, at the Teresa Perales sports complex, in the Jardín del Monasterio and near Pilar Bayona school. Residents who need to request a journey can already contact taxi driver Daniel Moncada directly on 633 316 503.

The return of taxi services follows an initial tender in 2024 that received no bids due to a lack of interested applicants. The town council decided to relaunch the licenses and this year succeeded in awarding both available licenses. For now, only Daniel Moncada's license is operational, although Ángela Ortega, holder of the second license, will join the service shortly. Her phone number will be announced when she begins operating.

NEW IMPROVEMENTS TO TRANSPORT IN THE MUNICIPALITY

The launch of the taxi service will expand transport options for the more than 16,000 residents Cuarte had when the licenses were put out to tender. The service will be especially useful for older people and those who need to attend medical appointments or carry out errands outside the town. "Being able to take a taxi to see a doctor, run an errand or travel more comfortably was something our residents needed," Lacalle said.

The measure adds to other mobility initiatives promoted by the town council, such as increased service frequencies on route 410, extended hours for the N41 night bus and connections with other municipalities in the metropolitan area via route 700. These initiatives also include the development of new cycle lanes and the installation of Bizia parking facilities, all of which are included in the municipality's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.
