The two institutional representatives welcomed him with gifts linked to Zaragoza’s traditions. Azcón placed a cachirulo on him, while Chueca tied a Virgin of Pilar ribbon in the colors of the Spanish flag around his wrist, as the mayor posted on Instagram.
Chueca accompanied the post with a message of support for her party leader: "The Virgin of Pilar ribbon with the Spanish flag for Spain’s future president." In doing so, Chueca voiced her support for Feijóo’s aspirations to reach La Moncloa, using the gesture with which she welcomed him during his visit to Zaragoza.
The PP leader’s presence at Zaragoza’s festivities formed part of a day in Aragón that also included a trip to Huesca, amid the run-up to the November 29 general election. His visit came one day before Pedro Sánchez’s arrival in the Aragonese capital, where he is scheduled to hold a rally this Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Hiberus Hotel.
