Christmas arrives at Parque Grande: the Nativity scene and illuminated angels are now in place

Christmas is spreading across Zaragoza and has now reached one of the city’s most emblematic green spaces. Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta has begun installing some of its most recognizable decorations: the large illuminated Nativity scene beside the monument to Alfonso I the Battler and the two giant angels welcoming visitors at one of the park’s entrances. The festive atmosphere is therefore beginning to extend beyond the city center, after the new lights on Calle Alfonso I also began to be installed a few days ago.

The figures are already in place, offering a preview of what the decoration in this area of the Aragonese capital will look like during the upcoming holidays. Both the Nativity scene and the angels have become familiar features of Christmas in Zaragoza, particularly because of their large size and the attraction they generate among those who visit the park to walk or take photographs beside them.

AN EIGHT-METRE-TALL GIANT NATIVITY SCENE

The Nativity scene at Parque Grande is entering its second year at this location, after being unveiled during the 2025 Christmas season. It consists of a large-scale installation of illuminated figures, reaching up to eight metres in height, located beside the Battler Fountain. Its addition was one of the major new features of last year’s Christmas decorations, as part of the expansion of the light corridor running through different parts of the city.

Nearby, the two illuminated angels have once again taken their usual place around the Cantautores Bridge, where they welcome those entering the park. These figures, which have already become one of the most recognizable images of Christmas in Zaragoza, complete a display that is beginning to herald the festive season.
