The association recalls that it already opposed the closure when the decision was made and warns that the passage of time has worsened the problem. It says Casablanca has lost a resource for its young people without another service being launched to take over its functions. The former youth center remains unused, while residents still do not know what plans exist for the facility or when it might be put back into use.
THEY CALL FOR PLACES WHERE THE NEIGHBORHOOD'S YOUNG PEOPLE CAN MEET
Tomás Pelayo questions the closure of a public facility without an alternative being prepared and is calling for explanations as to why it remains closed. The organization believes that keeping the space inactive reflects a lack of planning and leaves the needs of neighborhood young people unanswered, as they need places to meet, develop activities and take part in community life.
For this reason, the association is demanding a public explanation from the City Council about the closure, information about the facility's future and specific deadlines for its possible reopening. It is also calling for a real alternative for Casablanca's young people and for both youths and residents to be heard before decisions affecting these services are made.
