Bizi Zaragoza restores service after computer system outage

Public bike service Bizi Zaragoza was suspended for several hours on Tuesday due to an outage in its computer system. The problem also affected other cities where the operator works, so the incident was not exclusive to the Aragonese capital.

Zaragoza City Council reported the service interruption and said technicians had been working to restore it as soon as possible. The service was eventually restored at 5:35 p.m.

Bizi Zaragoza completed its rollout across all of the city’s districts this year. Since its launch, the system has recorded more than 11.3 million trips, averaging 20,953 journeys per day and exceeding 23,000 on working days. In addition, public bicycles now account for 38% of micromobility trips recorded at the locations analyzed, ahead of private bicycles and electric scooters.

Coinciding with its first anniversary across the city, the service has also introduced new measures to improve the user experience, such as an additional ten-minute allowance when there are no free docking spaces at the destination station.
