Currently, the appointment booking page, mantodelavirgendelpilar.com, shows schedules for September and October. Bookings must be made individually: an appointment is required for each child who will take part.
This requirement also applies to siblings, cousins or other children from the same family who wish to attend together. In such cases, a separate booking must be made for each child and the corresponding appointments selected.
HOW TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT TO GO UNDER THE VIRGEN DEL PILAR MANTLE
The process begins by visiting mantodelavirgendelpilar.com. From there, visitors can check the available schedule and choose a date for the traditional presentation under the mantle, which is reserved for children up to 10 years old.
Once the appointment has been secured, visitors are advised to arrive about 10 minutes early on the day of the visit. The meeting point is at the door of the Infanticos' sacristy. This is where the children are identified before their access to the shrine chamber is organized.
The ceremony takes place from the third step at the entrance to the Virgen's shrine chamber and includes a prayer of consecration to Mary. When the children are able to walk, an infantico or an assistant accompanies them before the Virgin. In the case of babies, the presentation is carried out by the father, mother or guardian.
It is also possible to obtain a keepsake photograph. Interested families can request one from the professionals in charge of the official photography service.
Once the presentation under the mantle has concluded, the children leave the area through the door of the Infanticos' sacristy and meet their relatives or guardians there again.
In addition to arriving at the scheduled time, the sanctuary reminds visitors that they must enter the Holy Chapel wearing respectful and appropriate clothing for a religious space. The service is also subject to the needs of the Basilica and may therefore be modified or suspended when circumstances require it.
Therefore, anyone wishing to maintain this family tradition and present their children under the Virgen del Pilar mantle must book in advance through mantodelavirgendelpilar.com.
