From Puente Nuevo to Turiasaurus: Major Projects Set to Transform Teruel in Coming Months

Over the coming months, Teruel will see work on two of its bridges, improvements to La Paz Industrial Park and the installation of the large Turiasaurus sculpture at the southern entrance. These are among the projects backed by the municipal Plenary on Monday, alongside the creation of two new adapted taxi licenses and the introduction of the International Baccalaureate at IES Vega del Turia.

One of the most significant investments will be the work on Puente Nuevo, whose improvement and repair project has a budget of 811,987 euros and an execution period of six months. The work will include renovating pavements and sidewalks, conduits, drainage systems and pipes, as well as repairing fissures and cracks and carrying out work on the concrete and masonry surfaces.

Work will also be carried out on Puente de la Reina, on Miguel Ibáñez Street, with an investment of 95,453 euros. The project includes removing vegetation and dirt, repairing the masonry and improving water drainage. The planned timeframe is three months, and the monitoring gauges installed in August 2024 to track cracks in the vault remain intact.

At La Paz Industrial Park, the City Council will allocate 158,813 euros to reinforce the road surface on Berlin Street, several sections of Stockholm and Dublin streets and the end of the industrial park. This comes alongside an update to the project to install the Turiasaurus sculpture at the roundabout connecting the N-234 with Avenida Sagunto, a project valued at 509,797 euros.

The Plenary has also approved two new adapted taxi licenses, primarily intended for people with reduced mobility or disabilities. In the education sector, it also approved the agreement to introduce the International Baccalaureate at IES Vega del Turia, with a total municipal contribution of 15,000 euros between 2026 and 2028.

The session also produced unanimous agreements to call for the formalization of FITE 2026, with an expected allocation of 86 million euros, and to defend the Cantabrian-Mediterranean Corridor as strategic infrastructure. All groups likewise backed progress toward a municipal public restroom network.
