Diego and Isabel Take Center Stage in Teruel in La Partida de Diego’s First Major Moment

The 16th edition of La Partida de Diego began Friday with The Lovers’ Encounter, bringing Diego de Marcilla and Isabel de Segura to Cathedral Square. The weather allowed the public to enjoy the scene, which placed the young couple and their love at the center before the story moves this weekend toward the Proposal and the separation that will shape their future.

From 5:00 p.m., the medieval market, reenactment camps, live music and children’s activities filled the historic center. The youngest visitors enjoyed "Shepherds’ Romances," featuring puppets and dragons, while Esfuria Tronadas led a children’s parade through the city center streets.

At 8:00 p.m., Cathedral Square hosted The Lovers’ Encounter. Diego and Isabel met before the public after the time they have spent apart and once again shared a few moments in which only the two of them mattered. The scene brought the young couple’s reunion and the happiness of being close to one another to the stage.

The day ended with a concert by LUGH. This Saturday will feature Isabel’s Proposal, one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the reenactment. Diego and Isabel want to marry and share their lives, but to do so they will have to face the condition keeping them apart: Isabel’s father demands that Diego go to war and make his fortune before returning.

EVENTS CONTINUE THIS SATURDAY

The morning will also include the official ceremony and the proclamation by the Honorary Recruit, Jesús Cuesta. His appointment recognizes someone who has been present throughout the development of the Isabel Foundation and its historical reenactments. He has seen how they have changed since their early years and how they have grown over time. His proclamation will provide an opportunity to recall that journey from the perspective of someone who experienced it at close hand.

In the afternoon, "A Pact for Love" will see Diego and Isabel search for a way to pursue their desire to marry. It will be the moment to lay out what they are willing to do for their relationship before the story leads them to an inevitable separation.

Pedro II, King of Aragon, will then arrive in Teruel with his retinue and be welcomed in Cathedral Square. His arrival will play a decisive role in the events leading to the most eagerly awaited moment of the night.

The Lovers’ Promise will bring the day to its major conclusion. Diego and Isabel will face their farewell knowing that five years apart await them. He will have to leave to make his fortune and fulfill the condition that will allow him to return and marry her; Isabel will have to stay and wait for him. Before parting, they will promise each other that, whatever happens during that time, they will meet again.

The night will continue with the parade and the initiation of aspiring knights, followed by the performance of "The Witch and the Archbishop."
