The People's Party of Teruel has thanked Senator Carmen Pobo for her dedication to public service after she decided to leave politics following a long career. Pobo headed the Teruel Provincial Council between 2011 and 2015, becoming the first woman to lead the institution. She was also the first female president of the Teruel PP, a position she held from 2009 until May 2017.

FROM CELLA CITY HALL TO THE SENATE

Her career began at Cella City Hall, where she was elected as a councilor in 1987. She later became mayor of her hometown, a position she held for four consecutive terms. According to the PP, that period was marked by close work with residents and shaped her understanding of politics and her commitment to rural areas.

After continuing as a councilor, she returned to the mayor's office in September 2023, following the death of Santiago Gómez Lanzuela. The Teruel People's Party highlighted that her return to head the town council reflected the bond she maintained with Cella throughout her political career.

Her municipal experience also continued at the Teruel Provincial Council, where she served as a provincial deputy before becoming president. From that position, she brought her knowledge of local realities to an institution that plays a key role in supporting town councils and ensuring the provision of services in the smallest municipalities.

Pobo also served as a member of the Aragonese Parliament for five terms. She later represented the province of Teruel in the Senate for four terms. The People's Party of Teruel sought to recognize her dedication to the province's members, councilors and mayors over four decades, as well as her willingness to take on responsibilities in the various institutions
