Zhang Yichi, a Chinese student in Zaragoza: “It’s an opportunity to learn the language and travel”

Crossing the ocean to experience life beyond what you are used to and discover new cultures is the motivation driving many international students who pack their bags to continue their education at a university different from the one where they have completed much of their studies. This Monday, the University of Zaragoza welcomed nearly 4,000 international students joining this academic year through the various mobility and cooperation programs offered by the institution.
Zhang Yichi, a Chinese student in Zaragoza: “It’s an opportunity to learn the language and travel”

This is the case of Zhang Yichi, a Chinese student who will continue his degree in Tourism and his Spanish studies at the University of Zaragoza this year. “I can study with a book, but I think it is important to be able to connect with people from every country and exchange our experiences,” explains the young student, who considers this Erasmus program essential for expanding his knowledge.

During this period, the Chinese student from Zhejiang International Studies University will also have the “opportunity” to live with a Spanish family in order to “learn the language”.

However, what truly motivated him to leave his country and choose Zaragoza to continue his studies was his passion for “travel”. In fact, the young man has not missed the opportunity to visit several Spanish cities since arriving a few weeks ago. Pamplona, Madrid, Logroño and San Sebastián are among the places already listed in his travel notebook, although he intends to continue visiting more cities across the country.

“It’s an opportunity for me to learn a language, and I also love traveling,” summarizes the Asian student, who points out that “Europe and China are very different”. “I want to leave my usual surroundings,” he says.
