Zaragoza vies for Spain’s sweetest title with this restaurant’s famous cheesecake

A cheesecake made in Zaragoza could become Spain’s best this Tuesday. Nola Gras’s creation is among the 15 finalists in the 2026 Spanish Cheesecake Championship and the only representative of Aragón in a final bringing together some of the country’s most outstanding creations.

The event will take place this Tuesday, November 3, at El Puerto del Escondite, in Grupo Santander’s Ciudad Financiera in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid). There, Nola Gras Cheesecake will compete against 14 other creations from 11 autonomous communities, from Andalusia to Asturias, in an attempt to win the title of Spain’s Best Cheesecake 2026.

NOLA GRAS, ARAGÓN’S ONLY REPRESENTATIVE

Reaching the final has not been easy. The participating creations competed between October 8 and 25 at their respective establishments, and a combination of public votes and evaluations by the organizers’ inspectors determined which ones advanced to the final round.

The finalists include cheesecakes from Cádiz, Cuenca, Valencia, Badajoz, Tenerife, Alicante, Girona, San Sebastián, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Madrid, Gijón, Córdoba and Murcia. Zaragoza will be the only city from Aragón represented, thanks to Nola Gras, which will attempt to bring one of the sweetest prizes in Spain’s national gastronomic scene back to Aragón.

The final will be decided through a blind tasting starting at 6:30 p.m. A jury made up of renowned professionals from the worlds of gastronomy and pastry will be responsible for choosing the winner. They will include Andrea Tumbarello, David Torreblanca, Julio Blanco, María Covarrubias, Puy Vélez and food content creator Pablo Cabezali, known on social media as Cenando con Pablo.

ZARAGOZA SEEKS TO CROWN ITSELF HOME OF SPAIN’S BEST CHEESECAKE

The awards ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will recognize Spain’s Best Cheesecake 2026, as well as the second- and third-place finishers. There will also be several honorable mentions and awards specific to the autonomous communities.

Nola Gras will therefore have an opportunity this Tuesday to put Zaragoza at the very top of Spain’s pastry scene. Its cheesecake is already among the 15 best in the championship, and it will now seek to take the final step: becoming Spain’s number one.
