SAINT ALONSO DE OROZCO
Saint Alonso de Orozco was educated in Talavera and later studied in Salamanca, where hearing the preaching of Saint Thomas of Villanova awakened in him the desire to become an Augustinian. In 1522, he joined the order and began a life devoted to religious formation.
After completing his studies in Theology and being ordained a priest, he focused his activities on preaching, hearing confessions and teaching. He also served as prior of his order in Seville, establishing a career marked by his religious and pastoral vocation.
Saint Alonso de Orozco wanted to travel to America to serve as a missionary, but his state of health prevented him from doing so. Later, Philip II appointed him preacher to the Court, a responsibility through which he continued his religious work and shared his teachings.
