Pequeños Corazones donates medical toys to Miguel Servet to ease children's fears
An ultrasound scanner or cardiac monitor can be intimidating for a child about to undergo a test. To make them more familiar, the Pequeños Corazones Association donated materials on Tuesday to the Pediatric Classroom at Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza. The donation, made to mark World Heart Day, aims to help children become familiar with some medical tests before undergoing them.
Among the donated materials are toy versions of an ultrasound scanner, a cardiac monitor and an electrocardiogram machine. By playing with them, children can learn about the instruments they may encounter during their medical care and better understand what will be done to them. The association hopes this will help them face tests with less fear and anxiety.
SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES AND PATIENTS
The donation is part of the initiatives prepared by Pequeños Corazones Aragón for World Heart Day, commemorated every September 29. The organization’s program also included an internal event for members on September 26, aimed at families who share a common reality: living with congenital heart disease.
The event was conceived as a meeting place for families, with separate spaces for children and young people. In addition to providing time to share experiences, the association sought to help participants strengthen their bonds and support network. With the donation to Miguel Servet, that support also extends to the hospital environment.
Miguel Servet has also received another donation linked to World Heart Day. The Virgen del Pilar Association of Transplant Recipients and Heart Patients donated two paintings to the Advanced Heart Failure Day Hospital. According to the organization, the works will help make the area where patients are treated more welcoming.
