This Wednesday, however, there will still be some respite before the most intense spell arrives. Zaragoza will record a low of 19 degrees and a high of 35, with clear skies in the morning and mostly clear conditions in the afternoon. In Huesca, temperatures will range between 19 and 34 degrees, with mostly clear skies throughout the day. Meanwhile, Teruel will start from a somewhat cooler position, with a low of 15 degrees, although temperatures will also reach a high of 35.
But if one day deserves special attention, it is Thursday. Zaragoza will reach 38 degrees, with a low of 20, prompting Aemet to issue a yellow warning for high temperatures. Huesca will not escape the rise either, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 36 degrees and a yellow warning also in place. In Teruel, the forecast puts temperatures between 16 and 36 degrees, with clear skies. The outlook, therefore, will be practically identical in all three cities.
THE WORST OF IT WILL COME ON FRIDAY
Thursday will only be a preview of what will happen on Friday, when the heat will reach its most extreme point. Zaragoza will soar to 41 degrees after starting from a low of 21, an especially striking high for this time of year. In response to this situation, Aemet’s warning will rise to orange level. In Huesca, thermometers will reach 38 degrees, with a low of 21, while the yellow warning will remain in place. Teruel will also reach 38 degrees, after a low of 17, and will join the warnings issued for high temperatures.
For now, September will have little of the transitional feel that many associate with the end of summer. Heat will remain the main feature in Aragon, with three days in which people will need to seek shade, keep water close at hand and hope that a drop in temperatures eventually arrives.
