The installation of the new generator was completed in late August after the relevant operating tests were carried out. The equipment replaces one of the previous systems, which had been in service for years and showed significant wear.
Barbastro Hospital has two generators to maintain the electricity supply in the event of an emergency. Each one supplies power to different areas of the complex, meaning both are necessary to guarantee emergency electricity throughout the facilities.
A BACKUP SYSTEM FOR HEALTHCARE SERVICES
Generators make it possible to keep the areas and equipment needed for operations running when an interruption to the electricity supply occurs. Proper sizing is particularly important in healthcare facilities, where a blackout can affect patient care and installations considered critical. Replacing one of the units enables the hospital to have an updated system and strengthen the security of its electricity supply.

The nationwide blackout recorded in Spain on April 28, 2025, highlighted the importance of having emergency systems capable of maintaining the electricity supply at essential facilities.
In the case of Barbastro Hospital, the replacement of one of its two generators is part of the measures aimed at keeping these backup systems up to date and guaranteeing the continuity of healthcare services in the event of possible power cuts.
